Our story.

About St Leonards Vineyard Cottages

St Leonards Vineyard Cottages is set on 4.5 acres on the outskirts of Blenheim, with four individually-appointed, self-contained boutique cottages positioned around the semi-rural property, surrounded by vineyards.

The Marlborough homestead is an excellent example of early NZ colonial architecture. Built in the 1880s, it was once the homestead on a large sheep farm.

The St Leonards homestead is situated in the centre of the property with century-old walnut, gum and elm trees, together with native plantings,

The boutique cottages are themed around New Zealand farm buildings, offering their own unique view of mountains, vines and gardens, and are privately located around the property. The cottages are fully self-contained and self-catering, with breakfast provisions provided.

Make the most of your idyllic surroundings by exploring the grounds with its picturesque gardens and majestic trees.

Near the lemon grove you will find sheep and chickens (all prepared to become your new best friend for a handful of food) plus a couple of very shy fallow deer. Relax in the heated pool and hot tub, or test your skills with a game of lawn tennis or petanque.

We are proud to have been awarded the Qualmark Gold award for quality and sustainability, with a 5-star Boutique Accommodation rating.

Our approach

Making your stay a wonderful, authentic and special one is our vision.

Before, during and after your stay, we work hard to ensure that your stay is the very best it can possibly be.

Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, Kotahitanga and Ngākau pono are the foundations of our St Leonards Vineyard Cottages brand and are embodied in everything we do and stand for as a business.

Manaakitanga: We’re invested in our guests having an exceptional stay in Marlborough.

Kaitiakitanga: We genuinely care about our environment.

Kotahitanga: We care about the community we live and work in.

Ngākau pono: Sincerity and integrity are pillars of everything we do.

Local products

Almost all our suppliers are Marlborough-based. Our in-cottage products such as dishwashing liquid, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion are made locally in the Wairau Valley.

Sharon makes pottery for guests to buy, and is currently creating ceramic plates, bowls, cups and tumblers for the cottages – which will also be for sale. Our breakfast provisions and dining options are sourced locally and made from local products where possible.

Our story

Sharon and Jason

We have lived in Marlborough for more than 13 years after moving from New Zealand's capital city, Wellington.

Our three children had fantastic childhoods growing up in Marlborough, with an enormous variety of sports and recreational activities all within a stone's throw of home.

Jason grew up in semi-rural Marlborough, not too far from St Leonards, while Sharon spent her childhood on the family farm in Taranaki. We both love being reconnected to the land and sharing our love for animals with our guests.

Jason and our children have all represented New Zealand in national sports teams, and Sharon is a talented potter... you'll see some of her homeware in your cottage and for sale in the homestead's reception.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to our little slice of vineyard bliss very soon.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
